President Donald Trump on Sunday said he will veto the House-passed funding bill to fund the U.S.-Mexico border wall, calling it “a waste of money.”
Trump, who has made the wall a top priority, had vowed to veto the bill, but his comments on Sunday made clear he may reconsider.
In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” Trump said he had concerns about the funding, adding that he has concerns about it being “a good deal for the country and the border, but I think it’s a waste of time.
We’re going to see how this ends up, but it’s very, very bad.”
The White House has been pushing hard to get the funding for the wall approved before the end of the year.
The administration has said the wall is essential for keeping out illegal immigration and terrorists.
On Monday, the president will sign the bill into law.
